Traditional Rare Breed Pigs at Tullywood Farm...

Tamworth - which is "Vulnerable"
Less than 300 IN THE WHOLE WORLD

Originally found in Ireland, these are Red Haired with a long nose. Very playful, love digging, the young ones will all come over to have a look at you, but if you move, they will all jump back.  Their little red coats look lovely against the green fields. We hope to get more people to keep these pigs in the future in Southern Ireland, we do not eat these pigs, we breed them to increase their numbers and ask other people to breed them too!

British Saddleback, which is "At Risk"
Less than 500 IN THE WHOLE WORLD

These are Black with a pale pink stripe. This is Diana, and she loves to roll in Mud and really loves apples and tomatoes. Their front legs should be pink and the back ones black, and usually their curly tale is pink too. Pigs can have between four and fourteen piglets, it is lovely to see all the little ones running around. Diana and her mother, Joanna are brilliant mothers.

Gloucestershire Old Spot which is "Minority"
Less than 1000 IN THE WHOLE WORLD

Pale pink with black spots. Some only have one or two spots, whilst others are very very spotty.  These are really funny characters and love to snort at you when you speak to them, as if they understand you and are answering you.  They are very friendly and love to sniff you and try to eat your trouser legs.

These Pigs are called Rare Breeds because there's not many of them left

If we do not start to breed them and eat them they could become extinct.
