Our Experience:-
We are members of the British Pig Association. Tara Delaney
has shown
pigs for
several
years (she is now 12 years old and knows just about as much about pigs as we
do). Both Julie
and Joseph are members of the Essex Pig Society. Julie and
Joseph have been members
of the Rare Breed Survival Trust for many years, and originally started to breed
pigs
to stop endangered species from going extinct.
Joseph
has worked with local vets, butchers and slaughterhouses as well as two local
commercial piggeries over the last 15 years, now he has turned his experiences
and love of pigs into saving Rare Breeds from going extinct, and offering an
alternative to intensively farmed meat - free range, outdoor reared pork -
pedigree pork from
farm to fork. Joe's butchery offers 80% pork sausages, pork and apple
burgers and rare breed pork at local farmers markets and is available in
the best local (and some Exclusive Dublin)
restaurants too!
Julie and Joe offer lots of educated information and advice from their wealth of hands on
experience, helping you to avoid the pitfalls and overcome problems that they
have had to go through, so you will know what to look for, and be well
prepared. This invaluable experience will stand you in good stead for your own
wonderful journey into the joys of keeping pigs.
Julie held a Management
position in I.T. with a well respected Corporation for many years. In Ireland Julie has also worked with local press, spent several years teaching Computers for FAS,
taught National School Teachers, Adult Evening Classes for the V.E.C. & at Youthreach schools. Julie's
experience is a great help with the Pig Keeping Courses.
Course Fee includes Lunch of Rare Breed Pork in
our Farm Shop,
Coffee and Tea, and a tour of the farm and Butchery.
